Exercise Physiologists Penrith FAQs

Is the "Real Assessment Data" just for elite athletes?

Not at all. While we use high-end technology to measure force and movement, this data is actually more important for those recovering from surgery or managing a chronic health condition. It allows us to see exactly where your imbalances are, making your rehab safer and far more efficient than relying on "feel" alone.

What is the difference between physiotherapy and exercise physiology?

Generally, a physiotherapist focuses on the initial diagnosis and "hands-on" treatment to reduce pain in the acute phase of an injury. An exercise physiologist then takes the lead to transition you into "hands-off" functional loading and long-term conditioning, ensuring the injury doesn't return and you're stronger than you were before.

What should I bring to my initial assessment?

Please wear comfortable activewear and enclosed sports shoes, as we’ll be getting you moving to gather your baseline data. If you have recent imaging reports (X-rays, MRIs) or a list of current medications, please bring those along so we can ensure your programme is perfectly aligned with your medical history.

Can I use my NDIS funding for these sessions?

We work with NDIS participants who are self-managed or plan-managed. Exercise physiology usually falls under Capacity Building: Improved Daily Living or Improved Health and Well-being. Our focus is on building the functional strength you need to increase your independence at home and in the community.

How does an exercise physiologist differ from a personal trainer?

While both work with movement, an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) is a university-qualified allied health professional. We specialise in "exercise as medicine," meaning we are trained to prescribe movement for people with complex medical conditions, acute injuries, or permanent disabilities. Think of us as the bridge between the treatment table and the gym floor.

Do I need a referral from my GP to get started?

For private health consultations, no GP referral is necessary: you can simply book in. However, if you are looking to access rebates through a Medicare Chronic Disease Management Plan, or if you are claiming through WorkCover NSW, the DVA, or the CTP scheme, you will need a valid referral from your GP before your first appointment.

Move With Clarity

We believe better results come from treating the person, not just the injury. Whether you’re an athlete returning to performance, someone navigating chronic pain, or simply aiming to move better and live stronger, we’ll walk with you every step of the way.
