Remedial Massage Penrith FAQs

Is there a best time to get a massage if I’m training for an event?

If you have a major event like a marathon or a heavy lifting competition, try to book your deep remedial work three to five days prior. This timing ensures you aren't dealing with any lingering treatment soreness on the day of your performance. For post-event recovery, we suggest waiting twenty-four to forty-eight hours to allow initial muscle inflammation to settle before coming in.

What is the difference between this and my physiotherapy session?

Think of these services as a partnership where the physiotherapist often focuses on the "why" by diagnosing root causes and prescribing exercises, while the remedial massage therapist focuses on the "how it feels." Massage specifically addresses the soft tissue tension and muscular restrictions that often result from an injury, making the two treatments highly complementary.

How often should I come in for maintenance?

If you aren't currently rehabilitating an acute injury, a "tune-up" every four to six weeks is the ideal timeframe for most people. This regular schedule helps our therapists identify and address small hitches in your movement patterns before they escalate into more significant physical restrictions.

Will I be sore the next day?

It is possible to feel some mild tenderness for twenty-four to forty-eight hours after a session. Because remedial massage involves deeper work on muscle tissue, your body may experience a sensation similar to the "post-workout" ache often felt after a session at the gym. This is a normal part of the body’s repair process, and staying hydrated helps manage this transition.

How long does a typical session last?

30 minute, 60 minute and 90 minute remedial massage appointments are available. A thirty-minute session is generally best for a quick fix on one specific area like a stiff neck, while a sixty-minute session is considered the gold standard for a full-body structural assessment and multi-area treatment.

Do I need a GP referral before booking?

You are welcome to book in directly with us as a private patient without any prior paperwork. However, if you intend to claim your treatment through WorkCover or CTP insurance, you will need to obtain a referral from your doctor first to ensure correct processing.

What should I actually wear to my appointment?

Comfort is the priority here. We recommend wearing loose-fitting clothing or gym gear that allows for easy movement. Depending on the specific area being treated, your therapist will use professional draping with towels to ensure your privacy and comfort at all times. You will only ever be as uncovered as is strictly necessary for the treatment to be effective.

Move With Clarity

We believe better results come from treating the person, not just the injury. Whether you’re an athlete returning to performance, someone navigating chronic pain, or simply aiming to move better and live stronger, we’ll walk with you every step of the way.
